Atelier Mauri
In December 2021, we established “Atelier Mauri”, a Venetian glass bead workshop dedicated to Maurizio Lotter, in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto. The atelier is the first in Japan to receive official certification from “the Comitato per la Salvaguardia dell’Arte delle Perle di Vetro Veneziane (Committee for the Safeguarding of the Art of Venetian Glass Beads)”.
At Atelier Mauri, Maurizio Lotter pours his passion into crafting exquisite glass beads using rare antique glass sourced from workshops in Venice that have since closed.
Working with flames reaching temperatures of up to 1,200°C, he carefully creates delicate and intricate glass beads using techniques inherited from the artisans of Murano.
Although Atelier Mauri is a small workshop located on the ground floor of a private residence, visitors are welcome to observe the glass bead-making process by appointment.
